Loma Vista: Episode 3. Firsts, Lasts, And Beginnings

   As evening approaches in Loma Vista, at Zach and Haley's Home in the Loma Vista neighborhood of Blue Ridge, Zach sits at the couch in the living, as he hears the knock at the door, and looks for his razor-blade, and screams "Damnit Haley!" Zach opens the door in an angry fury, as Ann stands at the door, and Zach yells at his Step-Mother "Get lost!" Zach slams the door, as Ann pushes the door open, and walks inside, and notices the cocaine on the coffee table, and Zach yells "What in the hell do you want Ann?" Ann walks around the couch, as she asks her Step-Son "Want me to buy you a razor and a straw you loser?" Zach yells "Get the hell out of my damn house!" Ann sits in a chair, and snides at her Step-Son "You are sure acting guilty. Snorting coke, and I know all about what you've done, and so does MY family. If your Mama knew, oh the look on her face. It'd truly be priceless, and who better for her to find out from but from me." Zach grows scared, as he warns Ann "Don't dare or I'll go tell..." Ann asks "Jackie? You'll tell your Daddy? He'd be so disappointed in this. Here's a straw, go ahead, snort a line, hell go ahead and freebase, you would be doing everyone a favor." Zach walks over to Ann, and raises his hand, as Ann slaps Zach to the ground, and snarls "If you ever try to slap me you worthless piece of shit, I will have your ass dead so fast, and the world would be a hell of a lot better off without you in it!" Ann heads to the door, as Zach looks at his Step-Mother, and in a scared tone, tells her "Please don't tell Dad." Ann coldly responds "That should be the least of your worries bastard." Ann walks out, as she bumps into Haley, as she glares at Ann, and Ann tells Haley "He's on drugs, and on a hit list. Enjoy him while he breathes." Ann leaves, as Haley walks inside, and gasps in horror, as Zach paces, and sees his Wife, as Haley tells her Husband "What's really going on with you? And you better tell me because our marriage's at stake." Zach looks at his Wife, and pulls a credit card from his wallet, and a straw, and snorts a line, and is silent, as Haley watches on with tears in her eyes, and anger inside.
   At Paradise, a restaurant and nightclub in Loma Vista, Blake and Sarah sits at a table, as Sarah looks around, as a party's going in in the VIP room, and tells Blake "I'd preferred The Gallery or The President's Room." A waiter arrives, as Blake tells him what he wants, as Sarah reads the menu, and asks "Any meals on here for vegans?" The bartender sighs "I'm sorry. We don't have anything." Sarah responds "I'll just take a salad, and a vodka while we wait." The bartender walks away, as Blake asks Sarah "You're vegan?" Sarah quips "I have the desire to live to be 100. I'm not very fond of eating meat, unless it was something my Great-Aunt cooked." Blake smiles "Aunt Ann's an excellent.." Sarah quickly responds "If she cooked for my family, she'd lace it." Blake laughs, and tells Sarah "She isn't really an evil person." Sarah asks "Shall we share stories? I prefer we just enjoy our first date." Blake holds Sarah's hand, as they look into each other's eyes, as the bartender brings them both a vodka, mixed with an energy drink, as they hear a song, and Sarah asks Blake "Care to dance?" Blake goes "I don't know how to dance." Sarah gets up, and takes Blake to the dance floor, and tells him "I'll teach you."
    Meanwhile at Lorenzo and Nikki's Mansion, Lorenzo, Nikki, and Lorenzo Jr has dinner in the dining room, as Lorenzo Jr asks his Father "So when are you going to induct me into the business?" Lorenzo turns to his Son, and tells him "I don't think you are ready for the business." Nikki notices tension between her Husband and their Son, and asks Lorenzo Jr "Didn't you tell me you were going out tonight to see your friend?" Lorenzo asks his Son "And who are you dating?" Lorenzo Jr is silent, and goes "I'm not seeing anyone tonight." Lorenzo finishes his dinner, as Nikki quips "I take it that weed in the study has kicked up your appetite." Lorenzo Jr tells his Father "You need to lay off the marijuana.." Lorenzo looks at his Son, and yells "Don't tell me what to do boy! I have smoked since I was your damn age! And my first time was with your Grandma!" Lorenzo Jr, in a bold tone, yells back "And it likely killed her too Daddy..." Nikki takes a deep breath, as Lorenzo bawls his hand in a fist, and Nikki yells at Lorenzo Jr "Get out of here. I have warned you about picking a fight with your Father!" Lorenzo Jr snaps at his Mother "And here you are taking up for him and all his bad habits!" Nikki slaps her Son in the face, and Lorenzo Jr yells at his parents "The two of you deserve each other. Sometimes I feel all alone in this world." Lorenzo Jr runs out of the house, as Lorenzo looks at his Wife, and asks "What in the hell is wrong with him?" Nikki sighs "He's 18. And he reminds me of you..." Lorenzo reminds his Wife "I didn't dress like a damn sissy when I was his age. I was already a Father, and married." Nikki tells her Husband "Baby I don't think he's going to ever marry, or have children. We will have to wait for our Daughter to give us that joy." Lorenzo shakes his head, as he sighs with disgust "I would love to indoctrinate him, but he just doesn't have that instinct that runs in the Thomas bloodline." Nikki changes subjects, and asks Lorenzo "Do you feel like trying out that new bed?" Lorenzo looks at his Wife, and responds "Turn on some Isleys, and dim the lights, and let the feeling flow?" Nikki grabs her Husband's hand, as they walk up to their bedroom. Meanwhile in the living room, Lorenzo Jr sits on the couch, and reads his tablet, as he makes a post on a social media page, and sadness shows in his eyes.
    At Randi's Mansion, Randi arrives, as Tilly sits in the living room, as Randi asks her Daughter "So has the little bluebird went on her date?" Tilly goes "Yes she did. I am so anxious for her. Her first date." Randi smiles "She did the same thing my Mama and Daddy did. I am so happy for her, I wish I could have seen her in Mama's dress." Tilly pulls out her phone, and shows her Mother a picture, as Randi has a smile on her face, and starts to cry, as she tells Tilly "Elizabeth wore that same exact dress when she went out with William." Tilly quips "The Duncan traditions still run deep don't they Mom?" Randi sits down, and goes "They certainly do sweet girl. Now you and Felicia needs to find someone." Tilly responds "I am one and done. After my marriage, and having two children, and the bastard husband leaving us high and dry, I am content now just being single and playing the field." Randi laughs, as she holds Tilly's hand, and tells her "I will never love again after losing Clint. I used to think Jack was the love of my life, but he always thought about that old bitch, and then I met Clint Camden, and I wished we could have had a child together, but he was dedicated to Loma Vista, and KLV News, and me. We just enjoyed being Grandparents." Tilly sits next to her Mother, as they have a drink, and Randi looks at a picture of her Husband, who passed away a few years earlier, and holds the picture, and kisses her Daughter, and tells her "I'm going to bed now, and take my Clint with me." Randi heads to her bedroom, as Tilly walks out onto the back porch, as she lights a joint, as she gets a text from Haley, and Tilly's eyes fill with anger.
    At The BlueBird Manor, the former estate of Ernest and Jean Sullivan Duncan, and Elizabeth D. Thomas for a time before Elizabeth gave her Niece, Felicia the home, Felicia sits in the den, as she watches television, as there's a knock at the door, and Felicia rolls her eyes, as she sighs "Damn I want some private time!" Felicia opens the door, as Barbara walks inside, and Felicia asks Barbara "What's going on?" Barbara walks into the den, and sits down, and Felicia goes "Can we discuss this tomorrow at the office?" Barbara boldly responds "No. I want to discuss it now. What's going on with Zach? And I want to see those sale reports, and see if there's any money being taken from my family's company from that son of a bitch." Felicia snaps "I run my Grandpa's company that was sold to Thomas Holdings, and this is something you need to discuss with Lorenzo or your damn Sister!" Barbara looks at Felicia, and tells her "You and I are very similar, but I have spoke to my Nephew, and I have also spoken to William and something isn't adding up." Felicia sighs "I know something isn't right with Zach right now Barbara. He's wanting money." Barbara sternly tells Felicia "It better not come out of Thomas Holdings! If so, for once I will be siding with my Sister, and I know enough to know he's hiding some things, and if he's wise, he'd be opening up." Felicia grows frustrated, and yells "What are all of you going to do? Have a gathering, and then off him. I heard my Brother J.R. has already visited my Mom today, and if he's smart, he'd back the hell off!" Barbara gets up, and walks towards the door, and warns Felicia "I'll be down at the office tomorrow, and I will be bringing Ben Burton with me to look over the finances, and if there's anything off, you may want to see if you can become a bartender at your Mama's bar." Felicia yells "Duncan's belongs to my damn family!" Barbara yells back "And you don't own the majority stock either! So with that, I'm going home, and I'll be seeing you tomorrow! And I'll have a nerve pill ready, because Ann will be there with me!" Barbara leaves, as Felicia screams in frustration, and makes a phone call to Zach, to no answer, and Felicia turns off the TV, and heads to bed for the night, as she has a look of dread in her eyes.
    At Jack and Ann's Estate, Ann arrives, as Jack sits in the living room, and Jack asks his Wife "So I heard you been paying visits today? I thought I warned you about that?" Ann lights a cigarette, and tells her Husband "Zach's playing with fire Jackie. I've learned enough today to nail his ass in a damn coffin, and dump it in Lake Pittman!" Jack yells "Ann, don't even talk like that! He's already in some shit, and I am trying to figure out how to break the news to Miranda. She's still mourning..." Ann snaps "Bullshit she's thinking about Elizabeth! She and Elizabeth were always rivals. And when sweet Lorenzo was a kid, Zach would always give him hell, and Lorenzo would kick his ass! He's a bum Jackie! Disown him, throw that drug addict out of your life!" Jack is silent, as he asks his Wife "How did you know?" Ann goes "Paid the bastard a visit before coming home. Cocaine on the coffee table. And I think..." Jack goes "I think you need to leave it the hell alone and let Miranda and I handle it!" Ann looks at her Husband, and tells him "I know you still have feelings for poor Randi, but I don't give a shit about her, or her three spawns. Maybe you should talk to Felicia and offer her a job, and go pick out a coffin for Zach!" Jack yells at Ann "I've had enough of that damn talk Ann!" Ann responds "And I don't give a damn!" Jack gets up, and tells his Wife "I'm going over to visit Zach, and I won't be home tonight. You sit here and plot and scheme, and if you harm my Son, our marriage's over! I've had enough!" Jack storms out, as Ann has a look of distress on her face, and calls J.R., who's at his home, and Ann tells her Son "Your Daddy's supporting Zach." J.R. asks his Mother "Want to stay with me tonight Mama?" Ann tells him "He's gone. Come and keep me company, and we can get our plan into action." J.R. responds "On my way Mama." Ann hangs up, and makes another phone call, and tells the person on the other line "I think it's time you return home. Mama needs you." Ann opens the liquor cabinet, as she pours a glass of whiskey, and pulls a pistol from her pocket, as she says to herself "Daddy, watch over us. Elizabeth, I'm about to go into attack mode. I wish you were here to help me." Ann sits back, and takes a drink, as she pulls out a photo album.
    At Lorenzo and Nikki's Mansion, Lorenzo and Nikki make love, as incense burns inside their bedroom, and slow jams play in the background, as Nikki's phone rings, and as Lorenzo kisses his Wife, Nikki stops him, and tells him "It's Mama." Lorenzo backs away, as Nikki answers the phone as Lena, sitting in the living room of her Loft in Downtown Loma Vista, screams with joy "Tyrone's arrived! Praise the lord my baby's out of prison!" Nikki screams with joy "Thank God! We'll be over shortly." Lena tells her Daughter "Come on. Hope you had dinner, Tyrone and I went and had dinner when I picked him up." Nikki laughs "We did Mama. We'll be over shortly." Nikki hangs up the phone, as she looks at Lorenzo, and kisses him, and cries with joy "Well miracle worker, my Brother's released from the Lexington State Prison. Mama's called us over." Lorenzo sighs "Damn, but what the hell we'll go welcome him home." Lorenzo and Nikki walks into the bathroom, as they get dressed to head to Lena's Loft.
    At William's Home, William sits on the back deck, as he thinks about his conversations with Barbara and Ann, as Lorenzo Jr arrives and walks onto the deck, as William sees his Grandson, and asks him "What in the hell are you doing here?" Lorenzo Jr sighs "Rough time at home. Mind if I stay here Papaw?" William asks "What's wrong Junior?" Lorenzo Jr sits down, and tells his Grandfather "Daddy and I aren't getting along, and Mom's supporting him." William tells Lorenzo Jr "Lorenzo's having a hard time accepting the fact Elizabeth's gone, and your Mama's supporting him. Hell, I'm still grasping it." Lorenzo Jr asks "Do you think he's reverting into Great-Grandpa?" William looks at his Grandson, and reminds him "Elizabeth had a mean streak in her, and so did my Daddy, and so does most of the Thomas family. Lorenzo does carry that same mean streak as do I. You have that same blood pumping through you also." Lorenzo Jr tells him "I wouldn't ever kill anybody Papaw." William tells Lorenzo Jr "Don't say that. One day you might. Lorenzo used to say the same thing, but then again, when he was your age, and a guy tried to hit on your Mama, Lorenzo had him killed." Lorenzo Jr's stunned, and William tells his Grandson "Just go to the guest room and make yourself comfortable. I'll let Lorenzo and Nikki know you're here in case they don't know." Lorenzo Jr sighs "Daddy could care less whether I was alive or dead." William puts his hand on his Grandson's shoulder, and tells him gently "He's mourning. Trust me, if anything happened to you, he'd go on a rampage." Lorenzo Jr goes inside, and heads upstairs, as William takes a deep breath, and says to himself "It's time to indoctrinate him."
    At Randi's Mansion, Blake and Sarah sits outside in his car, as Blake tells Sarah "That was a nice first date." Sarah agrees, and tells Blake "I loved it. Now if I could teach you how to dance, and become a vegan you'd be perfect." Blake asks "I'm not perfect?" Sarah looks at him, and holds his hand, and goes "I think you could be." Blake and Sarah looks into each other's eyes, as each of them share their first kiss, and Sarah backs away, as Blake asks "What's wrong Sarah?" Sarah tells him "I know where this is leading, and it's sacred." Blake agrees, and asks Sarah "Would you like to be my girlfriend?" Sarah kisses Blake, and tells him "I would love that. I never felt this way about anyone before." Blake responds "Same here." Sarah gets out of Blake's car, and quips "Another thing to work on is your shyness." Blake asks Sarah "Like for me to walk you to the door?" Sarah notices Haley's car in the driveway, as she tells Blake "Maybe next time Blake." Blake leaves, as Sarah walks inside, as Tilly holds her Sister In Law, as Haley's face is bruised, and Sarah asks her Aunt "What happened?" Randi walks out of the kitchen, as Tilly tells her Daughter "Zach hit Haley. We've just returned from the ER, and she's staying here tonight." Sarah hugs Haley, as Randi looks at her Granddaughter, and tells her "You're so beautiful in that dress." Sarah tells her Grandmother "I'll go change, and you can put it in your treasure box." Randi looks at Sarah, and tells her "It's yours now, and then pass it on to your Daughter." Sarah heads to her bedroom, as Randi sits next to her Daughter In Law, as Haley starts to cry, and Randi asks Tilly "What has gotten into Zach?" Haley looks at Tilly, as Tilly looks at Haley, and Haley tells her Mother In Law "Zach's on drugs, and I don't think that's all of it." Randi and Tilly holds Haley tightly, as Randi tells her "You will stay here until we can work everything out sweetie."
    As night has fallen upon Loma Vista, at Jack and Ann's estate, J.R. sits in the living room with his Mother, as Ann tells her Son "Zach Miller will deeply regret what he's done to my family. And if you don't do something, I sure as hell will." J.R. reminds her "Mama, Dad has warned you.." Ann takes a drink of whiskey, and bluntly tells J.R. "And Jack can kiss my ass! Zach's done messed with the wrong damn family, and he will pay for it! By the way, I called your Sister, and she's coming home." J.R. rolls his eyes, as he sighs "Looks like you've already got things under control Mama." Ann pulls out her pistol, and goes "I am my Daddy's Daughter, and no damn body screws over one of us!" At The BlueBird Manor, Jack sits inside the den, as he tells Felicia of what's going on with Zach, and Felicia shakes her head, and tells her Father "I know now another reason he's wanting money. He could cost me my job." Jack asks his Daughter "Did Ann stop by here?" Felicia goes "Barbara did." Jack rolls his eyes, and tells his Daughter "If Barbara's making rounds, something's about to happen." Felicia hugs her Father, as she tells him "Go stay in one of the guestrooms Daddy, and I'm calling it a night. I'll deal with everything tomorrow, and maybe now you will wake up, and leave that evil bitch." Jack hugs his Daughter, and tells her "Leave Ann to me, and just remember it's more complicated than you realize." Felicia heads to her bedroom, as Jack sits in the living room, and silently says to himself "Zach Miller, I'm going to kick your ass tomorrow." At Barbara's Home, in Downtown Loma Vista's historic district, Matt sits inside the living room, as Matt asks his Mother "So you want to call a gathering?" Barbara looks at her Son, and tells him with anger "Damn right I do Matt! And in the morning, I'll call Lorenzo, and let him know what I'm planning, and he, I, Ann, and William's going down to Thomas Holdings, and check everything, and you and your Cousin be on stand by." Blake arrives, as he sees his Aunt and Cousin, and Barbara asks her Nephew "How was your date?" Blake grows shy, and tells them "We're now dating." Barbara beams with joy, as Blake heads to his room, and Matt asks his Mother "Sarah Blair?" Barbara nods, and Matt sighs "It'll be a conflict of interest for him to be involved." Barbara tells her Son "Well Matt, we have no choice now. And maybe it's best to leave him out of it." Matt tells his Mother of an idea, and Barbara is quiet for a second, and as Matt heads to the door, to go to his home, hugs his Mother, and tells her "Brilliant thinking Mama." At Lena's Loft, joy fills the room, as Tyrone Houston, Nikki's oldest Brother sits inside, as he rolls a blunt, and Nikki sits next to his Brother, as does Lena, as Lorenzo sits in a chair, and Tyrone tells his Brother In Law "We're about to celebrate my freedom once and for all thanks to you!" Lena tells Lorenzo "I always knew you were a great man Lorenzo, I'll never be able to repay.." Lorenzo tells his Mother In Law, as Nikki sits next to her Brother, with a smile on her face "Your Daughter is all the payment I need. You gave birth to the only woman I have ever loved." Lena's phone rings, as she walks onto her balcony, as Nikki looks towards the balcony, and asks Tyrone "Who's Mama talking to? I haven't noticed that look in her eyes since Daddy died." Lorenzo asks Tyrone "When do you want to fire up?" Tyrone goes "We'll wait for Mama to return. She bought the wrap, and she's seeing someone." Nikki asks her Brother "What? Who is she seeing?" Tyrone tells his Sister, and Brother In Law "Somebody who will help with the wake up call. I hooked them up while in prison, and he's arriving tomorrow." Lena walks inside, and Nikki asks "Mama who are you seeing?" Lena responds "Ever heard of Sayyid Ross?" Nikki's eyes widen, as Lorenzo goes "The king of the streets." Lena tells her Son In Law "He's reformed, and he's moving in with me." Nikki sighs "That explains why you've been going down to the South." Lena sees the blunt on the coffee table, and tells her Son "Fire up. To my Son's freedom, and to my dear friend Elizabeth." Tyrone, Nikki, Lorenzo, and Lena sits around the coffee table, as they smoke, and celebrate Tyrone's release from Lexington State Prison.
